Return of The Bridge

For Cathay Pacific loyalists, the saga of The Bridge lounge has been a bit like waiting for the next season of your favourite drama-agonisingly long and full of suspense. Originally unveiled in 2013 near Gate 35 at Hong Kong’s Terminal 1, this beloved sanctuary shuttered its doors several years ago, leaving lounge lizards wondering if it would ever grace us with its presence again. Well, hold onto your boarding passes, because May 7th 2025 marked its glorious return.

Marcus Lui, Cathay’s Head of Customer Experience and Strategy, confirms that The Bridge’s reopening is not just a revival but a stylish renaissance. The lounge now flaunts a sleek, contemporary design that harmonises beautifully with Cathay’s other airport havens like The Deck and The Pier. A dash of sustainability is thrown in too, with some furniture up-cycled, because even JollyHoli travellers care about the planet. Adding to the charm, original artworks from Gallery in the Skies create a seamless flow from ground to air, while the iconic Noodle Bar, famed for its made-to-order Asian delights, has been given a prime spot.

For the crème de la crème-First Class flyers and Diamond members-there’s a plush, tranquil enclave to escape the airport hustle. Sink into sumptuous seats, sip expertly crafted cocktails, and let the pre-flight stress melt away. Tech-savvy travellers will appreciate the new biometric check-in points, whisking you through without fumbling for your boarding pass-a neat touch that’s set to roll out across Cathay’s lounges worldwide.

Foodies, rejoice! The Bridge’s layout has been cleverly designed to spread the culinary delights beyond the usual suspects. Enter The Nook, a cosy corner serving up regional Chinese small plates, pastries, and even a dim sum cart that’s a nostalgic nod to Hong Kong’s famed tea houses. Whether you’re dashing in for a quick coffee and pastry or luxuriating in a leisurely feast with family, the lounge caters to every mood and moment.

After years of anticipation, Cathay’s team is positively buzzing to welcome members back. As Lui puts it, “A lot of them really missed it.” So, if your travel plans take you through Hong Kong, The Bridge is ready to be your stylish, serene, and downright delicious pre-flight refuge. Cheers.
